Stills from film footage of the LAPD brutally beating black American Rodney King. The footage shows an unarmed King on the ground being beaten for allegedly evading arrest after a high-speed car chase. Four officers were eventually tried on charges of use of excessive force; of these, three were acquitted, and the jury failed to reach a verdict on the fourth.
